Office for the Supervision of Solicitors (OSS) continues to work vigorously
to stamp out poor service and misconduct by members
of the profession. In 1999 the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal
struck off 80 solicitors, suspended 26 from practising and fined 68. Pledge We will maintain standards among practising solicitors by being tough but fair on those who provide a poor service or who are found guilty of misconduct. Pledge We will ensure that where a member of the public has a complaint about a solicitor, this is dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Pledge We will take a robust approach in ensuring solicitors comply with the professional rules. Pledge We will give consumers more say over how solicitors are regulated. Pledge We will strive to make the Law Society more open and transparent. |
